Geminare Delivers Recovery as a Service to the Enterprise

Geminare delivers industrial-strength cloud solutions for business continuity with support for Linux, Unix and hybrid cloud environments

September 14, 2010, Toronto, ON – Geminare Incorporated today announced enterprise editions of its market-leading Recovery as a Service (RaaS) portfolio. With Cloud Recovery 2.0 Enterprise and Cloud Storage Assurance (CSA) 2.0 Enterprise, Geminare has created the first enterprise-class solutions for business continuity that are coupled with automatic file and email archiving, extremely fast search functions and built-in audit capabilities — all of which can be deployed in days instead of months and without any capital investment.

Geminare’s RaaS portfolio is based on technology that ensures the secure, continuous availability of mission-critical data and services by creating a failover server and replicating a customer’s server environment in real-time to a cloud vendor of choice. The replicated environment engages seamlessly during system interruption or failure and includes the ability to archive data files including emails to any cloud provider. With its new Enterprise editions, Geminare has added support for popular enterprise operating systems such as Linux, Unix and AIX, as well as features such as on-the-fly encryption, support for more than 250 servers per site, and integration with additional cloud providers as well as private clouds.

“Companies of all sizes are clamoring for cost-effective, almost ‘plug and play’ solutions for data storage and disaster recovery. Since launching our Server Replication solutions almost six months ago, based on the Geminare technology, it has become (one of) our most popular offerings with SMEs,” said Craig McLellan,’s chief technology officer. “Now with the new enterprise-enabled RaaS technology, we can offer the right solution to the other 60 percent of our customers—larger enterprises that are fed up with the high cost and cumbersome approach of assuring an ‘always-on’ business.”

“Geminare is well positioned to dominate the Recovery as a Service market. Their seamless failover and failback of replicated servers in minutes is absolutely unparalleled in the industry today. Now, with the addition of Linux, Unix and AIX support, Geminare is introducing truly innovative technology to the BC/DR space,” said Deni Connor, principal analyst, Storage Strategies NOW.

The Geminare portfolio of RaaS solutions is currently being white-labeled and successfully sold to the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) market through forward-looking technology vendors, cloud hosting providers and Telcos, such as, Qwest Communications, CA Technologies, Bell Canada and Ingram Micro.

Cloud Recovery 2.0 Enterprise

Cloud Recovery 2.0 Enterprise is based on Geminare’s market-leading server replication offering. With Cloud Recovery 2.0 Enterprise, Geminare now supports the key operating systems that large enterprises depend on: Linux, UNIX and AIX, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Sun Solaris and IBM’s AIX, in addition to the current Windows Platform support.

Cloud Recovery 2.0 Enterprise also now includes hybrid hosting capabilities that allow private clouds to be utilized within an enterprise. The solution includes native support for up to 250 connected servers per Geminare Controller, with the ability to add multiple Controllers into a customer environment, removing any practical limit on the number of servers supported at a single site.

CSA 2.0 Enterprise

Geminare’s CSA 2.0 Enterprise is the first auditable archive and indexing platform that integrates with public cloud providers. CSA 2.0 Enterprise adds Nirvanix, AT&T Synaptic, Rackspace and many others to its roster of supported cloud providers, which already includes Amazon S3, Iron Mountain Archive Service and Mezeo. Also new to CSA 2.0 Enterprise is the ability to do on-the-fly encryption of data stored in the cloud and to run in indexing-only mode. Geminare has also incorporated into the enterprise edition rapid e-discovery tools and reporting capabilities that deliver unprecedented value to any enterprise archiving solution.

“Our Cloud Recovery and Cloud Storage Assurance solutions have enabled partners to deliver world-class business continuity and disaster recovery solutions to their customers,” said Joshua Geist, CEO of Geminare. “With these new enterprise-class capabilities, even large-scale organizations can legitimately choose the cloud for their DR and BC needs. This constitutes a natural progression of our RaaS portfolio. Our new enterprise editions provide a tremendous opportunity for existing and new channel partners to bring essential cloud technologies to their largest accounts today.”
